City of Raleigh Bicycle Program |
Alta completed the 2009 Raleigh Bicycle Plan when there were only five miles of bicycle lanes on the ground. Since then, nine miles of bike lanes and nine miles of sharrows have been added as a result of Alta's recommendations. Currently, Alta is working with the City of Raleigh to design and implement 27 more miles of on-road bike facilities in the Bicycle Pavement Marking Design Project. Alta has also worked on additional studies to further the recommendations in this plan - including the Blount/Person Corridor Study and the Western Blvd. Corridor Study.

Example 3: Des Moines, IA
Alta worked with the City of Des Moines, Iowa, to develop a Bicycle and Trail Master Plan. The city is surrounded and crossed by an extensive trail system, and the Master Plan proposed a network that connects these facilities with complete streets that integrate bicycling into the transportation network.
The document contains a list of recommended bicycle infrastructure projects, including trails, on-street bikeways, and “end-of-trip facilities” such as bike parking. Since the adoption of this plan, the City has implemented several of the recommendations. Currently, Alta is working with the City to design and implement several of the projects included in this plan.
