Example 1: Albemarle Regional Bicycle Plan, NC
The Priority and Demonstration Projects Chapter of the Albemarle Regional Bicycle Plan contains charts, maps, sections, and photo simulations to illustrate how to implement a variety of bicycle facility types. This includes bicycle lanes, sharrows, bicycle boulevards, side paths, paved shoulders, signed routes, and greenways. The Design Guidelines within this plan provide illustrations and commentary for implementing on-road bikeways.

Example 2: Town of Boone Bicycle Plan, NC
The Boone Bicycle Plan uses a "hubs and spokes" method to connect residents and visitors to places where they live, work, and play. Both on and off-road facilities are used to complete this network. The example pages below illustrate types of on-road facilities and two photo simulations - one depicting a woonerf conversion and the second illustrating the use of sharrows for a downhill segment with a climbing bike lane to provide additional comfort and safety for bicyclists.

In 2008, Alta completed the Columbus Bicentennial Bikeways Plan. The proposed network of on- and off-road bicycle facilities was reviewed by Alta last year to record which recommendations have been implemented, and modify the remaining recommendations based on present conditions, culture, and innovations in bikeway design. The below maps present existing conditions and new recommendations, including on-road facilities, from the 2013 Downtown Action Plan Review.
